Matej’s house was built in 1479 inside of Municipal castle and it was integrated into Miner’s
bastion. It is tall, four-floored building built in the close proximity to so-called Slovak
church. The rooms are mostly flat-roofed, on the ground floor and on the first floor some rooms
have wagon vaults. On the façade there is a dating inscription (1479), the relief stone signs of Matej Korvín and Beatrix of Aragon and a town sign. The face of building is decorated by a
balcony.
In Miner’s bastion there were situated cannons during 16th and 17th century. Later it
served as gunpowder but even grain store. In 16th century there was also a flouring mill,
therefore the bastion was also called Mill’s one. From 1907 to 1909 Matej’s house was restored
and there was open the first exposition of the museum there. In the presence there is a museum’s
depository there.
